Comparison of Czech and Swiss Product Innovative Companies – Environment Friendly and Sustainability Business Orientation

Abstract:

Objective of the research described in this article is to analyse and compare level of the Environment friendly and Sustainability orientation in Business approach of Czech and Swiss product innovation oriented companies, where Swiss set of the companies is used as a benchmark. Primary research was made through manual activity scanning of the selected companies. European company database Amadeus provided by Bureau van Dijk was used for the company selection in both countries under the same search criteria. Each particular sample set covered 50 companies. Following criteria were selected to document environment friendly and sustainability oriented business approach of the companies: ISO 14001 certification, Eco-Management and Audit Scheme certification or Global Reporting Initiative implemented, use of Ethical Code of Conduct in the company, regular publishing of Sustainability or CSR Report, presence of independent environmental or sustainability section on the company’s web. Criteria above were manually scanned and particular metrics were scaled. Microsoft Excel was used for storing and the statistical analyses and hypotheses testing were performed in SPSS programme. The outputs were presented in graphical, verbal and numeric form. Evaluated results show gaps in environmental friendly business approach in Czech companies comparing to Swiss benchmark.
