In the last few years the craftsmen have evolved and adapted their art to the needs in the tourism area. Thus, a really delicate subject is the loss of national identity caused by the fact that this values are not passed to the next generations. In this article I have analyzed the financial support offered by the government and its institutions to the craftsmen with the purpose to encourage them to participate in fairs and to carry on their activity. At the same time, I have accomplished a qualitative research to establish the main ways for distribution and marketing of the handmade products.In order to enlighten the relationship between governmental institutions and the craftsmen I had to pay attention in particular to the methodology regarding the participation in fairs and similar events. The purpose of this was to identify that one category of craftsmen who has a real chance of developing a profitable business in the near future.
