Abstract:

The article discusses the main directions and practical possibilities of the transition of the country and its regions to sustainable development through awareness of the conservation of natural resources and the ongoing trends in their changes, as well as the measures taken by the state to reduce the negative impact on the environment. From these positions, the authors of the article study such issues as: environmentally significant characteristics of individual countries; total carbon dioxide emissions in the world and in Russia; dynamics of pollutant emissions into the air; trends and forecast of their environmental impact; Assessment of the achievement of environmental quality targets (indicators) envisaged by the state program “Environmental Protection for 2012-2020”.
