Abstract:

Slovak hospitals have not only recently faced up to huge financial problems. Because of that, the Slovak republic eliminated the debt 25 hospitals in 2011. The debt elimination was approximately EUR 300 million, it was termed repayable financial assistance. The aim of the article is to evaluate the benefits of Slovak hospitals debt elimination in 2011, to describe the performance development of selected hospitals, focusing mainly on cost items and to identify the key factors that had a significant impact on the performance of analysed hospitals.
