Examining the Impact of Digital Media on Promoting Process in Small Businesses. Evidence from Romania

Abstract:

The boom of technology and the emergence of the internet have led quite quickly to the existence of an online environment where people spend most of their time. Smart devices allow them to access websites and social networks from anywhere at any time as long as they have an internet connection. The purpose of this research was to explore the contribution of social media platforms to improve the marketing operations in small businesses. Thus, this study presents some of the results of a questionnaire-based research conducted in the first part of 2017, aiming to reveal the perspective of managers from small companies to adopt and utilize e-marketing tools for improving the promoting process through sales and advertising activities in small businesses case. There are some main social media platforms preferred by the companies in strengthen their online presence. Also, the article describes the latest Facebook features used in order to promote a product or a service on the market especially for small companies. These findings require further investigation in future research on theories, and practices for digital marketing development. Finally, limitations and future research directions are discussed
