LabVIEW Application for the Strength Calculus of an Unhomogeneous Beam

Abstract:

The phenomenon of a beam bending has been largely studied, both for its importance in engineering and for its educative role as a conceptual model. The following paper presents a Virtual Instrument (VI) made in LabVIEW able to plot the shear and moment diagrams for a loaded homogenous or composite beam. The application can be also be used for the calculus of the section modulus, inertia moment  and maximum shear stress, in function of the beam transverse section dimensions. The VI`s algorithm uses classical theorems regarding the bending of composite beams.
