Librarian Acceptance on the New Cataloging Standard (Resource Description And Access): High-Order Construct using Structural Equation Modeling Approach

Abstract:

Technology has significantly impacted and changed the context and the way people live in recent years. Indeed, information environment have changed towards electronic information sources and information practitioner have noticed the importance of motivational factors which largely contribute to the implementation of new cataloging standard. This research is aimed to examine the impact of motivation on librarian’s intention to accept RDA in the emerging countries. The data were collected using a survey among 24 respondents from NLM’s librarian. The data were analyzed using SPSS and SmartPLS and the results show that the second-order construct of intrinsic motivation has significant effect on librarian intention to accept RDA while the second order construct of extrinsic motivation does not. The future implications and conclusion are discussed.
