Abstract:

The current economic context has forced a focus on the need for performance measurement in public system as a result of the desire to increase its efficiency and effectiveness, but also to increase the level of competitiveness between the various institutions of this sector. Our approach represents a synthesis of relevant ideas from specialized literature that we have analyzed and interpreted in order to develop new personal ideas, on which we have focused our attention to point out the need for performance measurement in public system through the annual financial statements. In view of such perspective, the analysis of results contributes to knowing the performance of each activity of the public sector, while providing information regarding the degree of satisfaction which the public system offers to the citizens, and last but not least, it will give the public sector the chance to reorganize or it may even determine the renunciation of those sectors of public entities for which there is no demand.
