Digital Identity as a Possible Impediment to Future Employment – Case Study

Abstract:

The article deals with the current topic related to the development of the Internet and especially social networks. Any activity carried out in the digital world leads to leaving digital footprints. These tracks are often freely available and forms digital reputation, based on which people are evaluated by others. Digital footprints are now highly valued source of information for human resources professionals. Thanks to digital footprints they can verify the information provided by candidate, but also to find the kind of information they would never willingly provide. Students in the last year should be informed about potential problems associated with leaving digital footprints. Case study presented in this article investigates whether this is so. On a selected sample of students it is verified whether they adequately protect their private information and what is their online reputation. As the methodological framework was selected qualitative approach.
