Abstract:

One of the greatest assets of today's organizations is information, and normally, Where is value a malicious people is trying to use it for their benefit. Thus, data security gains an important role in the confidentiality, integrity, availability, authenticity and legality of the data. Security has become a constant concern for improvement, which brings an increase in complexity that is later reflected in the perfor-mance of the applications that use them. To study the impact of the performance of a database with and Without encryption, operations were tested for both cases and the average times, as well as the space occupied, were documented. Preliminary results show that encryption has a substantial impact on the database read and write performance.
