Abstract:

Problems of modemization of Weapon systems in their life cycle are presented in the paper. In the introduction he inevitability of the modernization process of crucial weapon systems Was emphasized. Furthermore the concept of Weapon system, life cycle of the weapon system and modernization of weapon systems where presented. The main part of the paper was focused on the objective need of modernization of weapon systems, and in particular types of weapons. A proposal to determine the level and efficiency of modernization of Weapon systems where presented. Determination of the efficiency index of the modernization of the Weapon system was proposed. Some data regarding the upgrade of the Leopard 2A4 tank to the Leo2PL version was
presented. In the end the significance of the modemization process in the life cycle of weapon systems was emphasized due to, above all, the significant costs of the modemization process and the inevitability of the modernization process of key weapon systems that are characterized by at least 30 years of an operational and maintenance phase lasting.
