A Conceptual Framework for Quality Management in Information Systems

Abstract:

Global competition, customer demand, company survival, and pervasiveness of information systems (IS) in modern organizations have increased the pressure for high quality information systems. Given that the challenges facing IS development performance improvement are largely organizational and not technical in nature, it becomes highly relevant in this context that IS quality research is directed to the quality management dimension to overcome those challenges. In this paper, the IS quality performance measures and the critical factors of quality management in IS are identified from an extensive review of information systems and quality management literature, and a framework is proposed for the implementation of quality management in IS.
