Abstract:
Business-IT alignment has been studied for quite some time but it is still a key concern for IT executives. Traditional approaches may have been successful in the past, as researchers have been working on the alignment domain, mainly regarding two perspectives: the impact on organizational performance and the antecedents and dimensions that better explain it. But the question remains: “how to provide an easy and quick way of achieving Business-IT alignment?”
Enterprise Architecture implementation under a Business Process Management approach, seems to be a useful way to identify a list of best practices to achieve and maintain Business-IT alignment. This research emphasizes the use of Dialogical Action Research, as investigation methodology supported in reflective one-on-one dialogues, to accompany the role of one particular model, the Organizational Competences Model: included in a praxis process oriented, mLearn, and essential to the organizational strategic architecture to build.
Field work is in course, where the researcher suggests actions to the practitioner to solve organizations problems, after reflective one-on-one dialogues made. This research, intends to confer researchers with the best practices in the implementation of methodologies process oriented and able to contribute to strategies alignment achievement and sustainability. Also important is the contribution to the Academy, with the scientific knowledge’ increase of process-oriented methodologies: this approach seems to be an effective way in this realm. Nevertheless, the contribution to the consultancy company, as well as to the organizations, in this case Municipalities, must be observed: improve processes organization and solve real problems.
