Abstract:

We present the Horus location determination system for enabling m-commerce applications. The system uses the signal strength received form access points installed within the popular WiFi hotspots to determine the user location without using any extra hardware. The widespread usage of WiFi hotspots, including indoor environments, energy efficient algorithms, along with the software-only technique for localization makes the Horus system valuable to m-commerce applications. We describe the different components of the system and present some possible m-commerce applications.
