A Model for Measuring Risk Culture in the Information Society

Abstract:

The aim of this paper is to present the views that have been formulated on the concept of measuring the level of risk culture in relation to any determinants of information society (IS) changes and to discuss the most important findings and trends of research in this topic. The paper comprises three parts. The first part of the paper discusses issues relating to risk culture, the information society and the information society model for measuring the level of safety culture for selected substrates of the information society. The second part of the paper formulates a generalised risk model and a risk measurement algorithm for any threat . This algorithm may be used for a specific part of the information society, such as the social portal, as well as for the information society as a whole. The last part illustrates the example of setting a level of risk culture for specific determinants of the information society.
