A Model for Risk Management in Business Transformation with E-Business: For Developing Countries

Abstract:

Both developed and developing countries are widely benefitting from the commercialization internet has delivered. The organizations are widely transforming the way they do business. The cost effective approach of e-transformation has opened eyes of the business world encouraging e-transformation businesses of all scale. Nonetheless, Small and Medium Enterprises are also encouraged to step into e-commerce world to compete in the global market. This paper discusses two cases of an SME and a large scale government body who struggles and fails in this new transformation. However we noticed that the lack of presence in Risk Management and Contingency Planning is a major failure factor in such scenarios. Hence this paper discusses the rationale and necessity of risk management from the initial stage of e-transformation and throughout.  Furthermore, we analyse the possibilities and propose a model for incorporating risk activities in the e-transformation phase.
