A New Method for Analyzing and Evaluating Stress in Higher Education

Abstract:

Alongside the occupations that aim to help and care for the fellows or to remove a risk (physically or materially), the professions in the field of education are professions that induce professional stress through moral and social responsibility towards others. In higher education, stress is an important aspect for the well-being of the existing human capital, which must be correctly approached, in order not to become a burden for either the university or the society. In universities, not only teachers, but also students are affected by stress, most of which is felt from the exam session. People affected by stress can get sick, many diseases having the source of suffering caused by stress. It induces costs incurred both by the person affected by stress and by the organization and even by society. In this paper, it was analyzed the exposure of university teachers and students to workplace stress, throughout the education process and it is proposed an original method of appreciation and analysis of the stress of teachers/students, on the basis of an own structuring of stress sources. In the last part of the paper is done an ample interpretation of the results of the proposed analysis.
