Abstract:
This paper presents an overview of a development of a performance monitoring system for palm oil breeding process. A discussion of the design issues and factors that need to be considered in the development of the performance monitoring system to enable the monitoring of progeny from breeding process is highlighted. The discussion is based on literature review and results from interviews of palm oil breeder. Further this paper presents a conceptual design of process monitoring system and example of breeding characteristics to be collected and monitored. This paper indicates the data to be collected via Radio Frequency Identifiation (RFID) tagging of the palm tree.
