A Portrait of the Regions of the Russian Federation in the Context of the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals

Abstract:

The impact of negative factors on sustainable development threatens the goal of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The change in the ranking of the countries of the world according to the Global Index of Sustainable Development shows that many states are not able to withstand threats, that is, they cannot achieve the SDGs. The purpose of this article is to form an author's approach to developing a ranking and portrait of the regions of the Russian Federation in the context of the achievability of the implementation of the SDGs. The proposed approach differs from the existing ones in that it is compiled within the framework of author typology using the predictive method, as well as using the Python programming language and the Panda library in order to implement data conversion used to assess the implementation of the SDGs in the regions of the Russian Federation. The study was carried out using general scientific methods: statistical, graphic and longitudinal. It has been established that most regions continue to strive for dynamic changes in their SDGs, which indicates an understanding of the importance of ESG principles in the modern world. During the study, several rankings were formed - rankings for E, S and G indicators for 2012-2022, as well as rankings for aggregate ESG indicators.
