A Preventive Adverse Drug Events System Based on Ontology

Abstract:

In this paper we propose the construction of a Preventive Adverse Drug Events (PADE) system. This system is based on a well structured data derived from a standard knowledge representation so called ontology. Such ontology is defined as a formal representation of terms related to specific domain, and has the characteristic to be up- dated each time when a change of the knowledge occurs. The idea is to automatically map the ontology and eventual changes on database using a set of rules. To demonstrate the relevance of the proposed approach, a comparison with current approaches (single table, dual scheme and OntoDB approaches) is performed.
