A Qualitative Assessment of the Investor Relations and Corporate Governance for Bucharest Stock Exchange Companies

Abstract:

This paper represents a micro-economic investigation of corporate governance (CG) principles, respectively of the relationship with investors (IR). Implementing the best IR practices means a grow in transparency of the listed companies through the improvement of the communication techniques with different type of investors. Therefore, corporate transparency has become a core element on the capital markets and a factor that leads to an increased investment confidence, whether we are talking about international or local investors, institutional or individual ones. The main purpose of this paperwork is to carry out a descriptive research regarding the corporate transparency based on the Romanian companies and the information they public through their websites. The information provided are characteristics quantified by investors and they have a big impact on their perception about issuers or potential issuers. The opportunity for this research comes due to the recently internationally increased importance of the Romanian capital market, but also due to the recent listings of the private companies and of an increased interaction frequency between investors and local companies.
