Abstract:

Online dating sites are getting a popular type of social networks that serve as a platform for people to find partner for relationship. The aim of the study is to develop a recommendation engine for one of the prominent online dating sites of Turkey; siberalem.com. The engine works as a support system to suggest potential matches to the site users. It is based on a rule set extracted from the past communication data using the association rule mining algorithm which does not require any detailed preference input from its users. A list of best matches based on scoring derived from these rules, are presented. The scores of matching couples are found to be significantly higher than the non-matched couples’ scores.
