A Regional Agenda for the Danube for European Collaboration. Maximizing the Bioeconomy in Relation to Global Challenges

Abstract:

The Europe 2020 strategy represents a commitment made by the European Union towards sustainable and inclusive growth. Among the main objectives are aspects related to innovation, research and development, but also the direct approach of climate change, the protection of the environment and the health of the population. The present study, without being exhaustive, proposes besides identifying an action plan on the circular economy, including the bioeconomy in activities that will give substance to the potential of the Danube. A number of actions can enhance synergies between current EU working instruments and direct future funding towards locally and regionally adapted bioeconomic models, and such a vehicle could represent the EU's Danube Strategy. extensive review process of its Action Plan.
