A South African Case Study into the Use of Public Internet Facilities for Participation in e-Democracy and e-Governance

Abstract:

The paper contains a report on survey research that was conducted in two South African provinces, Gauteng and the Western Cape, in order to ascertain whether members of the public make who do not have Internet access make use of public Internet facilities to participate in edemocracy and e-governance. The researcher also addressed issues regarding language proficiency as well as proficiency to navigate the Internet and use the facility.
