A Structured Approach to Explore and Validate Options to Upgrade or Replace ERP System: A Case Study of GTC

Abstract:

The implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system in a business organisations is a major undertaking as its life-cycle may extend in some cases up to fifteen or twenty years. However, there will be time in the life of system when there will be a pressing need for exploring and assessing the options of continuing to use the system current version, upgrading to a higher version, or even replacing it by a new system. This frequently translates into an important mission by a designated team to investigate and validate the feasibility of alternative options, and to report the preferred option with a recommendation of the way forward and approach.
