A Study of the Behaviour Adaptation Dimension in the Case of a Multicultural Virtual Organization

Abstract:

In the context of the paper virtual teams or global virtual teams are considered not only separated by time and space, but also differ in national, cultural and linguistic attributes, and use information and communication technologies as their primary means of communication and work structure. Started from the definitions of the concept and their advantages as they appear in some relevant references, the research described focuses on describing the importance of organizational culture in virtual teams. Furthermore, there are presented the research results for the characterization of some behaviour adaptation dimensions in the case of an international knowledge community in production of 17 leading research laboratories, companies and government institutions in 10 different countries that are joined together in the EMIRAcle association. The research results were meant to offer a consistent support to the management team of the virtual multicultural organization in order to give orientation in human resources management and establish adequate ways of collaboration.
