A Study of Tourism Development to Improve the Local Community Welfare through Conservation Based Natural Tourism

Abstract:

The Kukusan and Tangkeban Hills are near to areas prone to the eruption of Mount Slamet, which tends not to provide welfare for the surrounding community. Ironically, disaster risk reduction is not working either. The area has unique tourism potential because it offers captivating natural beauty. This study aims to identify the potential for tourism development in Bukit Kukusan and Bukit Tangkeban to improve the local community's welfare. The research method used is qualitative. Research limitations include identifying economic potential and engaging collaboratively with actors. The research findings show that Bukit Kukusan and Bukit Tangkeban have good potential as natural tourist destinations and environmental conservation efforts in reducing disaster risk. Research recommendations point to the need for a collaborative tourism management model that supports conservation efforts and disaster risk reduction.
