Abstract:
Under the current conditions of a computerized society, the education system must continuously adapt to market demands and take into account the opportunities offered by new technologies. The emergence of the new information technologies has influenced many aspects of our lives, the field of education being no exception. The students activity generates an enormous amount of data which, unfortunately, is wasted because of the traditional analysis techniques that are incapable of processing them. Through new information technologies, we want to explain an increasingly common phenomenon in education, the student’s dropout. This paper examines the dropout of students enrolled at Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Al. I. Cuza University of Iasi. Students data were collected for 2008-2018 range, and through survival analysis, we will reveal that there is a positive relationship between the variables analyzed (admission grades and country status) and the dependent variable (semester).
