Abstract:

This article analyzes the academic spin-off research published in Web of Science database between 1990 and 2013. A total of 420 journals were obtained. Four interesting findings emerged. First, 118 articles have been published in three major journals. Second, it was not until the late 2003s that the academic spin-off research really took off. Third, the top three productivity countries were the USA, UK and Germany. Fourth, out of 482 institutions, the top three were from Europe.
