Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to examine the perceptions of academicians about their individual role to contribute to sustainable development. To do so, a case study was conducted in one of the science schools of University Sains Malaysia. The interview with the faculty members of the school was applied as the method of data inquiry. The interviews were then transcribed and analyzed using thematic network to draw conclusions. Results showed that the academicians regarded teaching, research, community engagement, and practical contributions as the key manners to contribute to sustainability. Findings of this research can be applied by practitioners, researchers, and key plicy0makers in the academic setting.
