Accessibility of Tourism and Leisure Services as an Attribute of an Urban Space

Abstract:

The contemporary lifestyle contributes to a much higher level of both indoor and outdoor recreational activities . Despite a progressive increase in the number of people participating in tourism and recreation, there is a clear difference in the spatial accessibility of this type of services. Rural residents seem to use tourist and recreational services to a lesser extent than urban residents. The aim of this paper was to compare and evaluate the availability of tourist and recreational services in urban and rural areas, based on the example of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. The conducted research has shown that in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship the availability of recreational services in urban areas is much higher than in rural areas, while the availability of tourist services does not show significant differences in urban and rural areas (these results require a wider multi-factor analysis). However, on the basis of the conducted research it can be assumed that the availability of recreational services is an attribute of an urban space.
