Achieving Supply Chain Competitiveness through Successful Buyer-Supplier Relationships

Abstract:

Purpose – Current research aims to understand the role of successful buyer-supplier relationship in achieving improved supply chain competitiveness in a developing country perspective. Design/methodology/approach – Five hypotheses are developed to test the structural model. Survey data is collected from the manufacturing sector of a developing country. Analysis is conducted using Partial Least Squares (PLS) Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) through Smart PLS version 2.0 M3. Findings – Results demonstrate positive impact of effective supplier selection, buyer-supplier engagement, and information sharing capability on success of buyer supplier relationship. This successful buyer supplier relationship drives the supply chain firm financial and market performance. Research limitations/implications – Additional analysis with large sample sizes are required in other developing countries to cross validate the results. Originality/value – Current study provides empirical evidence of the role of successful buyer supplier relationship in achieving supply chain competitiveness.
