Adopting Edmodo© to Enhance Classroom Collaboration: Thailand Case

Abstract:

Web 2.0, especially Social Networks, is recommended to be used as educational support tools. However, popular social networks such as Facebook have some weakness in terms of privacy. Edmodo is a private social network which provides a free, secure, social learning platform for students and educators. Its appearing is very much like Facebook. The purposes of this research are to explore factors influencing Edmodo acceptance as a classroom collaboration tool, to compare different powers of these factors, to investigate students’ opinions of using Edmodo, to suggest teachers how to effectively increase Edmodo adoption. A survey research approach was utilized to examine the effect of independent variables, two perception factors, one instructor factor, and one student factor. Finally, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and instructor characteristics are pointed to be crucial factors which affect Edmodo adoption in education.
