Adult Learner in Distance Education: Andragogical Model of Teaching

Abstract:

The need for a long-life, fast and independent education system contributes to the emergence of innovative approaches and forms of education. One of these forms is distance learning. The article deals with the principles, forms and methods of distance learning for adults. The article highlights the importance of personal orientation and individualization of adult distance education. The requirements for distance learning, based on the need to take into account the psychological and pedagogical characteristics of adults, to ensure their active position, independence and create conditions for productive cooperation. The results of the study of adult students ' perception of main approaches of teaching in the electronic environment - pedagogical and andragogical - are discussed. Andragogical approach covers various areas of education, this paradigm involves a rethinking of the concept of education, its aims, essence, principles, functions, ways of organizing. The article presents andragogical model of adult learning using distance technologies. The model is considered by the authors as a set of interrelated and interdependent elements (tools, methods, processes, etc.) that form a single structure that serves to achieve learning goals. In addition, the effectiveness of the proposed model can be discussed on the basis of the analysis of the practical results given in the article.
