Agro-Ecotourism Management in Disaster-Affected Areas

Abstract:

Hargobinangun area in the Province of Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY), Indonesia is one of the disaster-affected areas of Volcano Merapi eruption. This area is near to Volcano Merapi as it is only 10 km from the Merapi summit. It impacted to the decorative plants cultivation activities in Hargobinangun village which become stagnant after the Merapi eruption. The purpose of this research is to arrange agro tourism based on chrysanthemum plant in Hargobinangun area. The type of this research is Participatory Action Research (PAR) through survey. The research method was conducted using two methods which are (1) agro-ecotourism and (2) the development of Participatory Local Economy through direct community involvement. The research explained that the tourists who visit there have the motivation to see the former Merapi eruption and enjoy the beauty of nature. The soil conditions that are still covered by volcanic ash are still able to cultivate plants, especially decorative plants.
