An Approach to Supporting Decisions regarding Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) using the AHP Method

Abstract:

Condition-Based Maintenance can be treated as a decision-making strategy, based on the data, information and knowledge collected from a manufacturing company. This article uses literature studies and the Analytic Hierarchy Process method, in order to determine the framework for the Supporting Decisions regarding CBM: (1) Maintenance Worker Selection Map, (2) the acquisition of data and information on the condition of machinery, (3) the amount of necessary repair costs entailed, (4) the creation of a data and information base, (5) a repair schedule, using the Analytic Hierarchy Process method, (6) and generating activity scenarios. The proposed approach is applied and validated in a real-case study.
