An Empirical Review of Technology Orientation and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Performance

Abstract:

A lot of factors affect the performance of small and medium enterprises and one of them is technology. The objective of this paper is to review empirical literatures on the influence of technology orientation on SMEs’ performance in different countries. This study reviewed various articles from diverse academic journals, and it was discovered most of the empirical studies reviewed failed to mention their sample size, method of data collection, and the theory or theories that supported and gave direction to their studies. This study suggests that methodology should be clearly stated in terms of sample size, and method of data collection, theory or theories that support their work should be stated in order to give guide to the study. This study serves as a guide for further studies so that other researchers will not make the same mistakes.
