Abstract:
This study aimed to investigate model of entrepreneurial intention of university students by extending model of theory of planned behavior (TPB). The model proposed that the intention can be predicted from attitude towards behavior, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control. An extension of the model to predict the intention was adopted from TPB model by considering entrepreneurial education as antecedent of entrepreneurial intention in Indonesia context. The data were gathered from a survey of 336 undergraduate students in West Sumatra Province, Indonesia. There were four universities participated in the survey. The model was estimated using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) by assisting PLS software application. The results of this study found that personal attitude and perceived behavioral control towards entrepreneurship demonstrated positive and significant effect on entrepreneurial intention of the university students. Meanwhile, subjective norms and entrepreneurship education did not significantly effect on entrepreneurial intention of the students. Managerial implications, limitations and directions for future research are discussed in the paper.
