Abstract:
As the worldwide drone market is growing, technologies advance and the number of practical uses grow, this article aims to create recommendations for managers in their deciding on the use of drones. The effort is made to answer elementary questions such as why should drones be used, what are the dangers, limitations, and concerns of advancements in drone technology for companies, and how should managers react to the drone market situation. Additionally, practical examples were analysed from materials such as news or company reports, from which (along with from the literature review) managerial implications were deduced, and through the generalization managerial recommendations were concluded. Practical examples were analysed from construction, sport, and gaming industry along with examples fields such as logistics and delivery services, humanitarian aid and natural disaster mitigation. Managers should analyse the potential uses of drones for their company, and they should do so with the help of tools, such as SWOT analysis method. It is also recommended to analyse the potential risks of security breach through drone usage. If the company decides to use drones it is necessary to be aware of legal restrictions, especially if the company offers drone services in multiple countries (legislation might vary).
