Analysis of the Economic Situation of the Visegrad Four Countries using Dependencies in the Magic Quadrangle

Abstract:

This article deals with the application of macroeconomic indicators to evaluate the economic situation of the countries of the so-called Visegrad Four (the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary). For each country, magic quadrangles are compiled, consisting of the following indicators: inflation, unemployment, gross domestic product and trade balance. The area of these quadrangles was subjected to a deeper analysis, as it was ascertained which indicator influences its size most. The article also includes an analysis of dependencies between individual macroeconomic indicators. The results obtained showed that the magic quadrangle in combination with correlation analysis can be a useful tool for exploring the macroeconomic situation of the country.
