Abstract:

Physical education plays a special part in the development and shaping process of the young generation and in the preservation of adult population’s health condition In order to reach the objectives specific to the subject matter in the curriculum it is necessary that the school pupils and students involved in the educational act carry on their activity in optimum conditions. The article forwards an analysis of the endowment with sport halls of the Romanian educational system in correlation with the number of schools and school pupils / students in the elementary, middle and secondary cycles of education. The data collected from the official statistics were processed by statistic methods, analysed and interpreted adequately. From the survey we identified a poor endowment of the domain and a too low ratio between the number of sport hall and the number of school pupils and students, which does not satisfy the need for physical education on all the levels of education. Although on the governmental level there are programmes destined to the development of sport halls, they do not cover the necessary amount for the entire school population.
