Abstract:
The advancing mechanization and digitalization in its current state has a significant impact on many industrial, social and personal facets. Everyday tasks are, and will be even more intensively aided by smart, connected devices and their state-of-the-art machine-learning applications. It was observed that especially the industrialized nations currently boost their efforts in several regulatory and technical fields. Germany should be mentioned here as a prime example, since it has a relatively high manufacturing degree and thus its economy and wealth is highly dependent on +technological superiority. The content of this paper present how processes are being influenced by digitalization. Based on the analysis of a common issue at the production line, the paper presents the possibilities of the implementation of the Industry 4.0 in a selected company. The chosen company is major European automobile manufacturer with its production site in Slovakia. The matter will be structured in an initial explanation of the digitalization in a broader view, including the theoretical basis for terms like the Internet of Things, the Industry 4.0 and the subject of maintenance. The subsequent chapters analyze the conceptional course and the implementation of the IT infrastructure into the selected assembly line equipment, highlighting the underlaying managerial and analytical preparations.
