Abstract:
It is known that the tourism sector positively contributes to the process of economic growth of a country through different channels. The paper deals with the issue of tourism in the Mala Fatra region in the Slovak Republic. The main objective was to analyze the awareness of the Mala Fatra region, the attendance of the destinations in the Mala Fatra region and the visitors’ preferences in the tourism sector. To meet this goal, a questionnaire survey was conducted to determine awareness of the Mala Fatra region, attendance of the Mala Fatra destinations, satisfaction with services in these destinations and to identify factors that are important for choosing a destination. Based on the analysis of the results of primary research, it is possible to categorize the respondents to three segments. The results of primary research and identified criteria could contribute to the best possible design of the tourism offer of the Mala Fatra region for a specific target group in the future.
