Analysis of China’s International Cooperation on Counter-Terrorism within the Framework of the United Nations

Abstract:

In the modern world, terrorism has become one of the primary threats to the national security of countries. According to the Global Terrorism Index 2018, the number of victims of terrorist acts in the world fell by 16 thousand people, but the geographical spread of terrorism increased. Over the past 10 years China has repeatedly become a target of terrorist attacks originating from outside the country; the devastating consequences of these acts of violence threaten the integrity of the country and economic interests. This paper analyzes China’s international cooperation in the fight against terrorism within the framework of the United Nations. Based on the study, it was proved that international cooperation under the auspices of the United Nations is one of the main forms of China’s interaction in order to ensure national security and protect its national economic interests abroad. It is concluded that it is necessary to continue to develop international cooperation in the fight against terrorism, expanding the areas of cooperation, and taking into account not only the interests of individual countries, but the world community as a whole.
