Analysis of Continuous Professional Training Needs of the Teaching Staff in the Romanian Pre-University Field. Case Study

Abstract:

The present research appears at an important moment for the policies in the field of continuous training of the teaching staff in the Romanian pre-university education. The educational system has a central role in this context, and the teaching staff training has to become a key and essential strategy for adapting the system to the requirements of the society, but also for ensuring the quality and educational process. Starting from these arguments I elaborated the present paper on the analysis of the continuous professional training needs of the teaching staff in which I presented aspects regarding the importance of the continuous professional training of pre-university teaching staff with a case study based on a questionnaire applied to the teaching staff in South Muntenia area, regarding their perception of the need for continuous professional training. The questionnaire was applied to 106 school units for all categories of staff and aimed at identifying the topics of interest to the respondents, the skills they want to acquire after completing the program, the preferred ways of organizing the courses, and the degree of availability of teaching staff for training, the areas in which personal training is to be improved but also the difficulties faced by them in the training process. All these aspects are important for the development of training offer, which must be based on a real analysis of the areas that the teaching staff  want to improve, an offer that needs to anticipate their needs, meet expectations and meet them.
