Abstract:

Tourism is the third socio-economic activity of the European Union and is estimated to generate over 10% of the European Union's GDP. Also, this activity provides about 12% of the total labor force at European level. Due to these positive aspects of tourism, many jobs have been created both in areas directly dependent on tourism such as travel agencies and adjacent ones. In this respect, the development of catering services has taken place at European. In this context, our study looked at data processing in the official statistical publications of the European Union. The methodology used in the study considered the use of elementary methods of tourism analysis (catering services) such as: graphical method, rank method, structural modification method and elementary methods of determining the descriptive indicators of tourism activity (average level, indicators asymmetry and variation, etc.). The analysis of the macroeconomic indicators that characterize the tourism activity was presented in the study independently and in correlation with the factors of influence. Finally, we can say that tourism is an essential area for both the citizens and the industry of the European Union, having a positive impact on sustainable economic growth and employment within the European Union. At the same time, we can conclude that the development of this sector of activity is in the future a vector of economic and social cohesion within the European Union.
