Analysis of Factors Influencing the Level of Digital Competence of Children and Youth in Poland

Abstract:

The principal features of contemporary reality are fluency and rationality in the use of modern digital technologies. It is essential that children and young people develop the digital competences of the future. This article discusses the trends in future labour markets and the characteristics of digital competences. The aim of the article is to verify areas and factors influencing the development of digital competence in the context of future labour market requirements. The student's contemporary environment should be examined to answer the research question: are modern students provided with suitable conditions for acquiring basic and advanced digital competences? This examination will allow the identification of the components of the future digital competence indicator. Therefore, on the basis of research conducted among experts, the authors have proposed factors affecting the components of the future digital competence indicator, which may be proposed in the context of assessing the level of competence of students prepared for the future labour market. The following research methods were adopted during the research process: critical analysis of literature, heuristic method, selected quantitative methods, analysis of digital competence level.
