Analysis Of Retail Markets: Evidence From Slovakia

Abstract:

The retail sector as a result of transformational changes has undergone significant changes that influenced mostly buying behavior of consumers. The development of large-scale retail chains brings many positives as well as negatives, which directly affect the population. The main objective of the article is to focus on the retail network of large enterprises with 20+ employees in the Slovak Republic, namely retail sales in the context of GDP per region in the SR according to NUTS III classification. The number of observations for variable ranges from 72 to 80. When verifying the development (i.e., changes), the number of variables is from 64 to 72. Measurement has taken place in two basic phases for the purposes of achieving the goal and the presented hypotheses a). and b). The retail network is constantly growing. At the end of 2016, according to the Statistical office of the Slovak Republic in Slovakia is more than 14,000 retail units with more than 20 employees. The structure, size, location and innovation of retail operations are one of the tools to attract customers under their roof.
