Analysis of the Effects of Brexit. The United Kingdom-EU Relationship

Abstract:

In this paper we have performed an analysis of the pros and cons of Brexit, highlighting the benefits but also the costs that would result from Brexit with and without agreement. At the same time, it must be understood that the EU must restructure itself, needing a rethinking of public and economic policies, which should not leave large segments of the population dissatisfied. It is difficult politically for a deepening of integration to take place at this time. Even if it is not possible to move forward with "More Europe", it is necessary to achieve "a Better Europe", i.e. the EU to function again to the benefit of the many. This would also mean a complete banking union, not just a common supervisory mechanism. The Union also needs an effective immigration policy, while a major demographic problem exists. The state of hypocrisy that the EU has shown for many years, by opening the gates of immigration in order to alleviate some imbalances in the labor market, at the educational level, is finally paid through exit.
