Analysis of the Relationship between the Technological Potential of the Manufacturing Process and the Competitiveness of Products in the Metal Industry

Abstract:

The article presents the role and function of technology in the industry and the results of authors' research on the impact of the technological potential of manufacturing processes on the competitiveness of the product. The research was done by applying the original BOST© method developed by Borkowski on the principles of Toyota management implementation (toyotarsim). The research survey was conducted to production workers of 10 heavy industry enterprises located in the Silesian Voivodeship using the BOST© questionnaire. The methodological part of the article presents the BOST method and data analysis techniques. The importance of factors analysed in the BOST method and their impact on the competitiveness of products were determined through a well-documented extensive statistical analysis using a spreadsheet application that is an integral part of the BOST method.
